ニートということばが、一般化して久しい。
年金問題、社会保障の問題、労働問題、家族問題etc
どんな場所にも、「ニートの増加は・・・の悪化を招く」という文脈で語られる。
ニートに興味があって、もしくは人々のニートに対する興味に興味があって、このようなサイトを作ったのだけれど、実は僕はニートに会ったことがない。
友人など身の回りに、自嘲的に「俺、ニートだから」というような人物でも、稼ぎはわずかかもしれないがアルバイトをしているフリーターだったり、何とか現状を打破しようとしている就職希望者だったりする。
ネットで「ニートの日記」と検索しても、実はフリーターだったりで、純正ニートはいない。
僕自身も数ヶ月間ニートのような状態であったことはあるけれど、でも一休みって感じで旅行したり、好きな映画見たり、何もせずにのんびりした時間を過ごしただけで、その後は社会復帰し、ニート期間も、しばらくしたら働くかぁっていう意思はあった。
厳密な定義におけるニート。
「職に就いていない、学校機関に所属もしてない、そして就労に向けた具体的な訓練もしていない」人間はどこにいるのか？
ニートは失業者とは別に考えられているから、ジョブカフェで仕事を探している若者はニートとも少し違う。
いわゆる世間の人々が想像する、享楽的で、親のお金で遊んでいて、就職する気もなく、何をするわけでもなく遊び歩いているステレオ・タイプなニート。
本当にそんな人々が数十万人もいるのだろうか？
もちろん、０人であるとは思わない。ただその数十万人という数字が、作為的な気がするのは僕だけだろうか？

私も「厳密な定義におけるニート」ってほとんど存在しないのでは、と思います。
今の「ニート」という言葉は、定職に就かずに誰かに依存して生活している人達のことを、その時点の状況だけ捉えて表現しているのではないでしょうか。
数字もそうですが、「就職する気もなく、享楽的な…」ニートというのも、ほとんどいないと思いませんか。周囲からはそう見えるのかも知れませんが、本人らは大きな不安を抱えながら、それを解消する方法や手段がわからずに空虚な日々を送らざるを得ない、というのが現状なのだと、私は思います。
ええっと、私は「ニート」です。さらに「引きこもり」でもあります。
大学卒業後、３、４ヶ月で進学した大学院をやめ、その後じょじょに家にこもりがちになりました。完全なニート期間は１年８ヶ月ほど、でしょうか。その間にフリータであった期間は２週間。知人のお店の手伝いを含めても１ヶ月ほどです。
さて、では享楽的なニートであるかどうかというと、答えはイエスです。
この間、ずっと朝から晩まで、まさに一日中自分のしたいことだけをしていました。外にでて遊ぶということはなかったけれど、ネットという世界の中で遊び歩いていたのです。
好きなネットゲームに没頭する。その時点では就職も考えずに、定年を迎える父のすねをかじりながら。その時期はそういったこともまったく忘れていたのです。見ようとしなかったという方が正しいでしょうか？
私自身も享楽的であったと思うし、周りからみてもそのとおりだと思います。
さてではその前の私はどうだったかというと、大学院をやめてから、いえ、やめる前ですらひたすら就職しなければいけないという思いに取り付かれ、心身のバランスを崩し心療内科でカウンセリングを受けていました。たぶん典型的なうつ病の症状だったのだと思います。
大学院をやめてからの６ヶ月、カウンセリングを受けることで少しづつその強迫観念が薄れ、今でなくてもよい。いつか就職すればいい。という過程を経て、その後カウンセリングにすらいくこともなくなり、完全なひきこもりへと以降していきました。
そしていつしか、いつか就職すればいい、という考えさえ忘れ、病院を含むリアルでの人間関係を忘れ、ネットゲームに没頭し、そこで出会った人々と共に過ごし、共に楽しみ、今がよければそれでいいと思うようになっていました。「享楽的なニート」ですね。
でも皮肉なことに、そうなることで気づけばうつ病の症状も消えていました。
現在はまた就職を望んでいます。バイトでもパートでも働きたいと。途絶えていた以前の人間関係も戻りつつあります。そしてそれによって表面化したいくつかの問題を解決していくためにまた通院をはじめています。
こうして振り返ってみると、私にとっては「享楽的なニート」という期間も必要な時間だったのだと思っています。
要領をえないコメントになりましたが、今現在ニートである、１ニートの現状です。
実はわたしも似たり寄ったりです。

６月にアルバイトを辞めて今にいたります。

自分で行動しなければ何も進展しないのでいろいろとしてますが、年齢が高いほど難しいですね。アルバイトも正社員も難しいです。

疑問があるのですが、何故、ニートの定義は「15歳から34歳」なのでしょうか？？
うーん。なぜでしょう？
政治的に、「若者」の定義が15歳から34歳なのでは？
ご存知の方がいらっしゃればお教えいただきたいですね
なぜ、15歳から34歳までがニートの対象なのか。政治的に若者の定義の問題ではなくて、就職して、年金受給資格を得られる25年分の保険料払い込みが開始できる最後の年齢である為 だそうですわ。
ずいぶん昔の投稿に対し意味ないコメントですが・・・あめーださんの話で納得です。
ＮＥＥＴの本来の定義と関係なく、何で労働経済白書で年齢制限を設けてあるかずっと疑問でした。35を超えて、後輩からニートであることを却下されてしまったので検索していました。
蛇足ですが、最近の日本マスコミのニートと引きこもりになった人達を同じ土俵で扱おうとする論調には大いに疑問を感じます。
広義では稼げない個人事業者もニートでないの？（employedとは労働者のことですからね）とか、引きこもるのには単に仕事をしないこと以上の原因があるはずですしね。
